For the launch of Still Austin’s newest flagship liquor, “The Artist” Straight Rye Whiskey, we had to do something special. My job was to create a visual concept to introduce their newest product to the world.

The Art and The Muse

In this campaign, we wanted to very intentionally highlight different types of artists - not just fine artists. And since creating is messy, we wanted to pay homage to the creative process and show artists in their creative spaces.

We partnered with local Austin artists and shot photo & video in their studios and workshops. Each artist tells their own story and what the act of creation means to them. We were also able to highlight the label artist himself, Marc Burckhardt, in a special edition of Still Life where he explains his artistic process and how he came up with the art for all of Still’s spirits. The result is a campaign with rich, imperfect scenes that act as a backdrop to The Artist, who’s both the art and the muse.

I directed the photoshoots and then built out the digital campaign. The launch took place in several phases on social media and culminated in a launch party at the distillery.

Still Life is a series where Still Austin highlights local artists and explores what their art, and being an artist, means to them. To go along with the launch, it only made sense to feature Still’s label artist Marc Burckhardt, who’s studio served as the backdrop for the key art.
